نبيل العياشي : منافع فليو أو النعناع البري Nabil Layachi – Mentha

النعناع البري ويسمى كذلك الفليو أو -بشكل خاطيء- في العراق”البطنج” و “نعناع الجبل” هي عشبة تشبه كثيرا النعناع العادي، اسمها العلمي هو (باللاتينية: Mentha pulegium L). تنمو وتتكاثر في المناطق الجبلية قرب المجاري المائية أو الأماكن الندية يبلغ ارتفاعها من 10 إلى 55 سنتيمتر لها أوراق عطرية ذات رائحة قوية ومميزة، تزهر خلال فترة الصيف ما بين تموز وأيلول بأزهار بيضاء نوعا ما تكون بين الأوراق. يدخل النعناع البري في تحضير شربت الزبيب الموصلي , وتشريب الباقلاء, كما يدخل في كثير من أطباق خوزستان و جنوب العراق تستعمل أوراق الفليو (النعناع البرّي) لعلاج نزلات البرد والزكام ،و يستخرج منها زيت طيار يسمى المنثول.

The essential oil of pennyroyal is used in aromatherapy, and is also high in pulegone, a highly toxic volatile organic compound affecting liver and uterine function.Pennyroyal essential oil should never be taken internally because it is highly toxic; even in small doses, consumption of the oil can result in death.[8] The metabolite menthofuran is thought to be the major toxic agent. Complications have been reported from attempts to use the oil for self-induced abortion. For example, in 1978, an 18-year-old pregnant woman from Denver, Colorado, died within one week after consuming one ounce of concentrated

La menthe pouliot est une plante de la famille des Lamiacées, quelquefois cultivée comme plante pour ses feuilles Nom scientifique : Mentha pulegium L., famille des Lamiacées (Labiées).Nom commun : pouliot, pouliot royal, herbes aux puces, herbe de saint Laurent, dictamme de Virginie, frétillet. de : Feldminze, Poleiminze, en : pennyroyal, field mint, es : poleo, it : menta terragnola, menta poleggio Elle est quelquefois cultivée pour l’extraction du menthol et dans les jardins comme plante condimentaire. Elle est utilisée pour aromatiser les sauces, les desserts, et les boissons.On retire de cette plante l’« essence de pouliot », une huile essentielle. En infusion, elle a des propriétés antispasmodiques et stimulantes. Elle est réputée éloigner les puces. Elle est également utilisée depuis la nuit des temps pour provoquer les règles et l’avortement. L’huile de pennyroyal à des propriétés abortives par irritation de la region utérino-génito-urinaire avec des effets secondaires sur le système nerveux et le foie.
